I didn't really decorate for Halloween this year, but I have come across a lot of unique Halloween decorations, glamorous Halloween decorations. These ideas are my kind of decorating; forget the scary and bloody decor. Bring on the glam, jewels, and lace!
In honor of this orange and black holiday, here are some of my favorite rooms in this color scheme.
This is an inspiration board that I created for our guest room a while back using black and white and orange. The room is inspired by one of Mary McDonald's designs.
I hope you all have a Happy Glamorous Halloween!

A Small Town Weekend
Friday! You are finally here. This is going to be a very fun, busy weekend; I will get to see some of my favorite people in the whole wide world, and I cannot wait. I am heading to my hometown this afternoon to watch my baby brother's (only brother) football game. I absolutely love this kid young man and am so protective of him. It makes me worried that I am going to be one of THOSE moms; you know, the ones that are so protective it's annoying. I apologize now... Anyway, back to the football game. They have been a very successful team the past two years and made it to the State quarter finals last year, and nothing less is expected this year.
With our proud dad!
Proud sister! This is us last season; this reminds me how much he's changed in a year.
Then Saturday I'll be heading to my dad's hometown of Flatonia for Czhilispiel. I have grown up going to Czhilispiel every year, and it is something that I absolutely look forward to each fall! I have only missed one year and that was for my honeymoon last year. This is the 39th Czhilispiel; there is music, food, partying, beer, chili cook-off, margarita contest, partying, and lots of fun! Oh, and partying!
Here I am with one of my very best friends and cousin/best friend in front of the large chili pepper a few years back.
With friends under the largest tented biergarten in Texas. Fun times ahead....
Then Sunday is the baptism of one of my best friend's first baby. I am so excited to be a part of such a special occasion. We have been friends since we were 4 or 5. We grew up together, graduated high school together, and were in each others wedding. Here we are at my wedding October 2010.
This post just got me even more excited talking about all the fun for the weekend. I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend full of your favorite people too!

Booties aren't for Babies
Usually when a new season is upon us I cannot wait to go out
and buy new clothing and accessories, but this fall has been a little
different. I have been so occupied with fixing up and shopping for our house
that I really have not had the time to shop for myself as much as I normally
would. I have been wanting a new pair, or two, of booties for the fall and
winter. I’m all about a knee high or even thigh high boot, but there is
something about the bootie that I just cannot get enough of. This season the
wedged bootie is a huge deal. I finally went out the other day and made a pair
mine own.

Patio Weather?
It may seem odd that the husband and I have decided to "makeover" our patio after summer, but in our defense it is Texas! The weather just becomes tolerable the beginning of October - so of course it made sense to us to have a nice patio for the fall! Plus, I we could never make up our minds in terms of how to set up the patio, and have you seen how expensive patio furniture is? We have remodeling to do! Here are some pictures of the styles that we really liked, but even on sale these babies are around $250 a chair! That's not even including an outdoor rug, throw pillows, cute garden stool, etc. You know, all the patio necessities ;)
I will be the first to admit that I have a hard time "settling" for something other than what I originally have in mind; but in this case, I knew practicality was a must, and there was no need to splurge on our patio when we have so many other indoor projects going on (Hubby was so proud to hear me say this).
Me: "So, I think it is silly to spend so much on outdoor furniture since we're remodeling the kitchen and redoing rooms."
Jett: "What did you say?"
Me: "So, I think it is silly to spend so much... "
Jett: "One more time?" (big, proud smile)
After searching online and at local stores and coming out empty handed, we decided to check out Garden Ridge. They actually had wicker patio furniture, and we were able to get two chairs and a settee for nearly the same price as one of the other chairs. The cherry on top - it was black! (I'm obsessed w/ black and white decor)
I don't have a picture of our new furniture to show yet, but I will soon! Here is the inspiration board I created for the patio -
I can't wait for it all to come together!

Inside My Make-up Bag - Under-eye Primer
I am constantly on the lookout for new beauty products that create
miracles results. One of my biggest problem areas is my eyes. I have
always had dark circles, puffiness, and now signs of crow’s feet. gasp
I have had the
hardest time finding concealers to cover the dark circles, and when I find one
that provides enough coverage, it is too thick and creases. I finally decided
to try an under-eye primer in hopes that I could pile apply a sufficient
amount of concealer and still have a smooth finish.
I turned to reviews online
and decided to purchase YSL’s Top Secrets Wake-Up Eye Care. I absolutely love
this stuff. It not only helps w/ the smooth application of my concealer, but it
also helps out drastically w/ the puffiness. It may have even helped with my
dark circles as well, but that is hard to tell (more to come on that topic
later). There is one down side to this product (of course); it is a bit pricey
and does not last long… I would love to find another product that shows this
many results that lasts longer than a month. One month!
Pros
Leaves eyes feeling
very smooth
Helps under-eye
make-up have a smooth finish
Leaves eyes looking “awake”
Reduces puffiness
Possibly reduces dark
circles
Can find it at most
department stores
Cons
$44 a tube
Lasts only a month with daily usage
XOXO,

Pretty as a Peacock
In my opinion, peacocks are the most beautiful creatures; I love the rich colors in their feathers. Peacock inspired items are everywhere from fashion to home decor, and the trend is continuing with many different variations of the coloring and design. Here are a few of my favorite peacock inspired goods:
If I were rich and famous, I would buy these in a heartbeat!
This is a Trina Turk, peacock inspired indoor/outdoor pillow. It comes in other colorways as shown below. I love the spin on the traditional coloring of a peacock feather. I actually purchased this pillow for our patio.
Kendra Scott is one of my favorite jewelry designers, and I love these Andi Earrings in Eclipse.
This is a really fun, graphic rug, and I love the colors. This would add just the right amount of punch to any room. The rug is from an online boutique out of Dallas called Shop ten 25.
Another really pretty dress by Rebecca Taylor. The color of this dress resembles the coloring of a peacock feather, and there are embroidered feathers made out of sequins and beading.
Another great home decor item from Shop ten 25 is this peacock lacquered tray. Trays are a great way to add small punches of pattern and colors or to group items into attractive displays on tables, ottomans, etc.
This is a very affordable, graphic shirt from Forever 21. The peacock feathers are beautiful. I think I may godig through browse the nearest Forever 21 for this shirt.
