Holiday Party Attire

I love this time of year for many, many reasons; the obvious being spending time with family and friends. A very close tie second is putting together glamorous, sparkly holiday outfits :) What would the holidays be without some glitter, sequins, or stilettos?

Here is a fun, glamorous outfit that I've put together for any holiday party or gathering...or, if you're feeling fancy, a regular night out.

Austin Home Tour - Downstairs

Here are some of the final pictures that were taken to list our Austin home on the market. If you would like to take a look at the other areas of the home, you can check here, here, and here.

We'll start with the family room, which was the last project we were working on when we found out we would be moving.

My favorite room in the house, the kitchen... We finished this room last fall, and I absolutely love it and will hopefully recreate it one day!

And finally, a peak at the half bath

Austin Home Tour - Upstairs

Moving upstairs, here are a few pictures of the master bedroom and one of the guest rooms and bathroom. The upstairs was going to be one of our next projects, mainly the bathrooms, but as I mentioned a few days ago, everything was put on hold once we realized we would be moving. So here it is in all it's 1990's glory...

Austin Home Tour - 2

Yesterday we left off with pictures from the front of the house and entry, and today's pictures are of the dining room and sitting area. We decided to keep our chandelier, so we had to replace it with a new light just in case a prospective buyer would get attached to our chandelier.

In case you are curious or do not remember, this is our chandelier that we decided to keep:

Austin Home Tour

As I mentioned yesterday, we are packing up and heading to Denver very soon, which means we needed to sell our Austin home. I will share some of the professional pictures that were taken for the listing over the next few days. I thought I would start with the front of the house and entry.

Please ignore the dirt bald patch in the yard (sorry Jett!). I may have slipped on my watering duties a time or  two hundred. Those Bravo Real Housewives can be so distracting.

Here are a few outside shots of the front of the house and the entry.

If you would like a little history, you can read about painting the door and stair rail black and the entry decor here and here.

Rocky Mountain High

Wow, it has been a while, but there have been a lot of changes since I last posted. The changes are one of the main reasons I put blogging on hold, especially blogging about our home. I have received many questions regarding the progress of our family room and other home projects, but the truth is all projects came to a halt.

We have known for a quite a while now that we would be moving, but we were not 100% sure where. We didn't want to keep putting money into the house or purchasing items that "fit" our current home if we were going to be moving to another we decided all home projects would be put on hold.

We finally know where we will be in the near future, and I am finally happy to share that we will be moving to Denver, Colorado. It is definitely a bittersweet move. We love Austin and love being close to our family and friends, but we welcome a new experience and REAL seasons! We were just there house hunting, (new home projects, YAY!) and the leaves on the trees are gorgeous and it was so nice walking around outside and not sweating in October! Also, I can actually wear my hair down ;) This Texas humidity isn't so nice to this thick, wavy hair.

We put our house on the market and sold it and purchased a new one in Denver, which means lots of packing and unpacking and just overall chaos. I will share pictures of our home within the next few days, thanks to our wonderful Realtor with Triple Mint Realty for allowing me to share the pictures.

Stay tuned, lots to share!

Color Crush: Magenta

I am crushing on magenta at the moment, especially bright magenta. I was in the dressing room the other day of one of my favorite stores and realized my selections were mostly magenta. Family Room Update

I know it has been a while since I have posted about our family room, and I have received lots of questions. All the pieces that we ordered have finally arrived, but we are waiting to get rid of our old furniture before setting up the new furniture and rug. We are hoping to sell our old stuff since it is only a couple years old and good quality furniture, but life has been a little hectic lately and we have not had the chance. Our home currently reminds me of a college apartment with mixed matched pieces of furniture all throughout the house (it is driving me crazy).

Here is our new sofa sitting in the family room but not in the correct place (as you can tell it is blocking the fireplace).

I can't wait to get the new sofa in place and put the pretty new Caitlin Wilson Textile pillows on it. Here is one of the pillow covers with a coral throw I picked up at West Elm for $19.99 this past weekend; they had a lot of great items on sale.

The rug finally came....

Now we just need to sell the old furniture so we have room to roll it out. I want to have it treated before we use it since it is mostly white. Here is a picture of what the rug looks like:

I hope you enjoyed the "update." I wish things were completely set up so we could get on with the accessorizing and coffee table, etc. Unfortunately, things were delivered later than expected and life has not slowed down enough to give us a chance to arrange to sell our old stuff. Hopefully, I will be able to show more of a reveal sooner rather than later :)

Thank goodness it is Friday! I hope you all have a great weekend; hopefully mine will be very peaceful and relaxing ;)

Beauty Recommendation: Nars Body Illuminator

I am a redhead, which means I am not naturally tan unless I spend several days in the sun. So far this summer, I have not been able to be in the sun as much as I normally like. I have sworn off tanning beds and mystic tans are certainly not my first choice. I do love airbrush tans, but sometimes they are not the most convenient, and I have had a bad experience where I ended up being the color of an Oompa Loompa.

So, on to the point of this post....

I finally found a "bronzer" that looks natural and does not streak. It is NARS Body Illuminator, and it really isn't a true bronzer. It doesn't stain your skin or give you a dark tan/gold/orange color. It is a bronzing product that illuminates the skin. It gives a bronze glow, but you don't look too glittery or shiny. I love the finish it gives my legs, and you can keep rubbing it in until there are no streaks or uneven marks. It will also come off with soap and water.

If you're looking for something that will make you really tan, then this is not the product for you. It is pretty shear, but it does take the bright white out of your skin and give you a healthy glow at the same time. You can use it all over the body; I have used it on my chest before too.

Affordable Finds

On a recent trip to both Target and Hobby Lobby I was very surprised by all the great home decor pieces that I came across. Most of them were very similar to expensive decor items. These affordable options do not look like a cheaper version; I was really impressed by the quality.

I took a few pictures while in Hobby Lobby:

These geometric prints were really pretty in person; the colors were so vibrant. They were priced at $59.99 with 50% off.

This lamp was so pretty in person; it looked exactly like the mercury glass/mirrored lamps I see at the expensive home stores in town.

The design on this picture is exactly like a pillow that is currently at Anthropologie.

I didn't take pictures while in Target, but I pulled up a few of the items I liked online:

I love this tray. It is a really pretty coral with a gray and white geometric print inside. It goes so well with our new family room design so I bought it and I can't wait to show you where I put it. This tray is $29.99 at Target and I have found several similar trays for $150.

This plastic tumbler was also cute and in the same vibrant coral.

These pillows were all great as well and were similar to pillows I have seen in some of the pricey home boutiques around Austin.

Everyone loves a great sunburst mirror, especially when it's a third of the cost of most sunburst mirrors you find at home stores.

Have you come across any great finds lately?
