I finished decorating our entryway table a few months ago, and I really like how it turned out. I used a mixture of metallic and black items; including books, vases, a frame, a horn magnifying glass, and a driftwood horse statue. Here is a picture I took shortly after I finished decorating the table (excuse the high quality iPhone picture)
Oh, and excuse the empty picture frame....don't you all have empty frames around your house; it is the newest in design ;)
Although I was very pleased with the outcome of the entry table and mirror, there was still something missing. The space underneath the table was too empty and looked out of place. I turned to some pictures of other entryways that I have saved in my inspiration files.
I noticed that they all had some sort of seating or stool beneath the tables, which added another layer of decor and filled that empty void. Originally I was looking for two small X-benches, but I had a hard time finding any upholstered in a fabric that would work for my space, and it would cost a small fortune to purchase two and have them reupholstered. I think I found another solution by accident. I ordered a garden stool for our patio, and I decided to try it under the table - just to see. I think I really like how it looks. I need to add a second stool, of course. What do you think? (Again, excuse the iPhone pictures)
Here is a full view of the mirror and table.
Even the husband is on board with this idea; it doesn't get any better than that :)
I tried to photo shop a second stool into the picture. This isn't the best picture, but you can't get the idea..
What are some solutions that you have used for to fill those big, empty spaces?
